The Toronto Fashion Incubator’s 25th anniversary gala was recently held at the Royal Ontario Museum’s Crystal on May 3 2012. As part of the celebration, designers across Canada were asked to participate in the Barbie art-as-fashion challenge. VAWK was excited to take on the challenge and designed an avant-garde garment inspired by Barbie while creating a miniature version for Barbie herself.
The VAWK dress was reminiscent of the first outfit worn by Barbie, a black and white swim suit, with a futuristic spin created by graphic lines and shapes and a splash of the signature Barbie pink.
That evening the VAWK creation was modeled on the celebrity filled runway runway by Tara Spencer-Nairn, actor of Corner Gas and The Listener.
