Collision Fungi

Mushrooms Meet Maseratis on the Runway at VAWK’s Collision Fungi Sunny Fong of VAWK Presents Fall/Winter 2010 at the AGO

Decay and fungi meet automobiles in Designer Sunny Fong’s Fall/Winter 2010 collection for VAWK at The Art Gallery of Ontario’s (AGO) Walker’s Court on March 29th 2010 at 1 PM.

“The collection is inspired by the beauty that comes from decay such as fungi, and the stream lines and precision of automotive design,” explains Fong. “The narrative of the collection is loosely based on the movie ‘Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.’ The film is the bond that holds the two themes, mushrooms and cars, together.”

VAWK Partner and Business Director, Ben Barry states, “We are thrilled to present Collision Fungi, our Fall/Winter 2010 collection, at the spectacular Art Gallery of Ontario. This season marks our first full collection since Sunny won Project Runway Canada and an important step along our path to building VAWK as a global, luxury brand.”

Known for his superior craftsmanship and precise tailoring, Sunny Fong’s latest collection embraces a woman’s hips with asymmetrical lines, corseted waists and cropped coats in shades of camel, black, taupe and cream with deep red and purple accents. This season, VAWK is part of the Fur Council of Canada’s Design Network Program.

“The artistry, and story behind each garment is what makes VAWK unique in the fashion marketplace,” says Barry.

On the second day of Toronto’s LG Fashion Week, 200 of Canada’s top fashion media and celebrity VIPs will view the luxurious collection from an intimate view point on the show floor. In October 2009, VAWK became the first Canadian fashion show to be streamed live. Fans will once again have the chance to view the latest VAWK runway show live.

VAWK would like to thank the AGO, Winners, 9th Sphere, CARGO Cosmetics, Salon Daniel, The Fur Council of Canada, The North American Fur Association, Marlu and smartwater for their generous support.
